ATTRACTIONS



David is the third city in importance of Panamá and also the starting point to visit the beautiful attractions of the Chiriquí province.

In David is located the International Airport Enrique Malek, several rent-a-car companies, good hotels, excellent restaurants, theatres, discoteques, bars, casinos and, for the people that wants to spend some time in town or in the surroundings, exists other attractions. Lets see what we find here.

CERVANTES PARK
In the middle of the city this green oasis calls the visitors and the locals to rest or walk under de shadows of his trees. Place of business for some ice cream, handicrafts and lotery sellers, is surrounded by banks, hotels and many diverse shops from electronics to drug stores.

MUSEUM OF HISTORY AND CULTURE JOSE DE OBALDIA
Shows items of archaeological, historical and religious value. Open Tuesday to Saturday.

MALL CHIRIQUI
One of the newest attractions. At a side of the Interamerican Highway offers to the people several shops with clothes, shoes, handicrafts, books, foods and a complex with 6 theatres displaying the most recent movies.

PEDREGAL PORT
The ocean coast close to David is in part cover by extense beaches and mangroves. Here, at the end (coming from the open ocean) of the mangroves region there is small port, PEDREGAL, that it is possible to reach by land following the avenue to the airport to the end. This port is the refuge for small vessels and yatchs, and also an attraction for fishermen that try to catch their food-of-the day from the peer. It is also the departing place for the tours that go to the islands of the Chiriquí Gulf and the base of the artisan fishermen.

LA BARQUETA BEACH
At only 30 minutes from David is this long white sand beach. Neiborgh to an important wildlife reserve, there you will find a beach resort, a locals small restaurant with a place to leave the car under the shadows and a new beach housing development.

LA BARQUETA WILDLIFE REFUGE
La Barqueta Wildlife Refuge is a marine turtles nesting beach refuge on the Pacific Ocean. Created on August 02, 1994, this national reserve covers a surface of 5,935 hectares (13,057 acres) of beach and mangroves.

GULF OF CHIRIQUI NATIONAL MARINE PARK
With an extension of 14,740 hectares, the Marine Park protects most of the gulf's coast and the islands Secas and Paridas, where it is possible to observe (in season) big marine creatures like humpback whales, pilot whales, orcas, sharks, manta rays and dolphins.

SAN JOSE DE DAVID INTERNATIONAL FAIR
David´s Fair, how it is popularily known, is the showroom of the productive sectors of the Chiriqui Province, the most important food provider for the whole country. During 10 days visitors can look at the agriculture, cattle, tourism, industry and other stands that evidence the efforts of the people of this beautiful and hardworking region of Panama.
